Cunha and Kolpticke

Freshmen Hannah Cunha and Kayla Kolpitcke of Marian University women's hockey have been selected to the All-NCHA freshman team.

Cunha (Havervill, Mass.) led the Sabres in scoring in her first season as a Sabre scoring eight goals with one assist for nine points.  Her eight goals on the season put her 13th in the country, ninth in the NCHA, for total goals scored.  Cunha had five of her goals come while the Sabres were on the power play which led the entire nation, while her 0.75 points per game average ranked 16th in the country amongst all freshmen.  She had a pair of multi-goal games during the season with a pair of goals in the season opener against CUW and a three-point game in the finale against Lawrence where she scored two goals with an assist.  Both of her goals against the Vikings came on the power play for her only game where she scored multiple power-play goals.

Kolpitcke (Powell, Wyo.) had a strong first season between the pipes for the Sabres as just a freshman.  Kolpitcke made 122 saves in just five games played, four of which were starts, posting an .878 save percentage to go with a 4.51 goals-against average.  She opened her Sabre career with a 36-save performance in the finale against Concordia Wisconsin allowing just two goals with a .947 save percentage.  She followed that up with a career-best 40 saves in her next start against Concordia Wisconsin where she only allowed three goals for a .930 save percentage.  In the final game of the regular season, Kolpitcke went on to stop 27 shots.
